Stefanos Filos (violon, voix)
Nancy Legkitsa (voix)
Mukadder Çoruk (voix)
Yannis Pournaras (lafta, guitare, voix)
Srdjan Ivanovic (percussions)
Mahdokht Karampour (santour basse iranien, voix)
Pablo Vergara (piano)

Born in Paris, the project brings together four musicians from diverse countries and cultures: from Italy to Greece, from Turkey to Bosnia. This diversity is reflected in the music, which blends contemporary jazz with the sounds and atmospheres of the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The result is a language rich in nuances, where the writing opens up to improvisation and dialogue.

The compositions unfold like a suite, a narrative in several movements that evokes the ancient idea of musical travel. Some melodies—simple songs and dances—are named after the places that inspired them: Balat, composed while traveling through the eponymous district of Istanbul, or Apricale, born in a medieval village in Liguria.

These real landscapes are also complemented by interior and symbolic dimensions. Lost, for example, is inspired by the feeling of disorientation one feels when immersing oneself in an unknown culture: a fertile loss, which awakens the senses and opens one to a deeper listening.

"Beyond Borders" isn't just a title: it's an invitation. In a world that seems to be closing in ever more—between borders, mistrust, and walls, visible or invisible—this project seeks the opposite: openness. Openness to others, to the unknown, to difference. Openness to the beauty of encounter, to the fragility that makes us human, to the freedom to find meaning beyond known maps. Music thus becomes a space for listening and recognition, a place where differences don't separate, but intertwine. A journey between real and imaginary places, discovering soundscapes that speak to the soul, evoking memories, emotions, and roots.
