MakamOdyssey is a music education project created and directed by Andrea Romani, which explores makams (the modal systems of the Middle East, Eastern Mediterranean, Turkey, Greece, and the Balkans) by confronting them with the world of free improvisation, contemporary jazz, and modal world music.
The word "Odyssey" refers to a journey, a quest through the different forms of makam, revisited with a modern, creative, and deeply personal approach, but based on the great Ottoman tradition, and in collaboration with Ahmet Erdogdular and Ali Osman Erdogdular.

Our Commitment
The association's purpose is: to support artistic and cultural creation aimed at supporting and promoting the professional development of musicians and other performing artists or authors through the production of phonograms; to support creations rooted in the search for the roots of cultures and diverse traditions; creations driven by the impetus of improvisation and which aim to establish bridges of communication between cultures through dialogue and innovative experimentation, with a particular emphasis on emancipation.
